Swift Group, one of the largest manufacturers of caravans and mobile homes have migrated its manufacturing system into a virtual environment to improve performance and ensure no disruption to manufacturing due to IT downtime.
Following a successful tender process, Swift Group commissioned Vdotcom Group to build and deploy a virtual environment to host the mission critical production system.
We worked closely with Swift Group and had a clear understanding of their objectives for the system upgrade. Using the VMware capacity plan and our expertise allowed Vdotcom to develop a solution that addressed all the required areas and put forward a suitable proposal.

Vdotcom used Fujitsu Siemens hardware to deploy 2 x Fujitsu RX300 S6 hosts and a Eternus DX90 storage unit in the main site. 1 x Fujitsu RX300 S6 host and a Eternus DX60 were deployed to the disaster recovery site. VMWare was installed for the infrastructure software. Vdotcom also installed a new dedicated fibre connection between the main and disaster recovery sites to ensure maximum data transfer site to site.
Post installation Vdotcom assist and support the Swift Group to ensure the hardware and virtual environment continues to perform to meet the requirements of their production system. Part of this is covered by Vdotcom performing onsite monthly health checks.
Following on from several months of successful operation, it is hoped that Swift Group will utilise the proven skills of Vdotcom to carry out further Virtualisation projects.
Vdotcom have worked with us to provide a successful solution to our manufacturing systems performance and disaster recovery needs. From our initial meetings it was clear that Vdotcom had the technical ability and experience to provide a suitable solution. Our systems now have snapshot and replication capabilities that could not be provided without the VMware environment and still perform 2 to 3 times faster than our previous system
